Jerome Deroy
Chief Executive Officer | Lead Trainer: Sales and Training
“My own experience as a new hire was unsatisfying. Yes, I learned about the company culture over time. But it lacked direction. Through my storytelling work, I’ve come to understand the power stories have to share culture viscerally, in an engaging and lasting way.”
Jerome joined Narativ in 2007 after the founders, Murray Nossel and Paul Browde, handed him a shoebox full of notes and said, “we think there’s a company in here.” Jerome had recently left a position at BNP Paribas, Hong Kong, and come to New York to pursue a career in filmmaking. He jumped at the challenge—and transformed Narativ into the business it is today.
For the last 13 years, Jerome has worked closely with clients as diverse as CIGNA, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Janssen Pharma, and Warby Parker to craft business-relevant personal stories for sales, leadership, and team building. He regularly lectures at Parsons New School of Design in New York City on The Art of Storytelling.
My Onboarding Story
Two years ago the lightbulb went off: Jerome saw that storytelling could offer a unique enhancement to a company’s onboarding process. Role clarity, mission and values, and creating a sense of belonging are all well within the scope of impact from stories. And here’s the story that inspired Jerome to act.
