History

Our work with corporations

In August 1995 Time Out New York invited Narativ to lead a workshop on corporate burnout for fifty employees. The air conditioning broke, people sweated like a hot yoga class and probably left more tired than when they started, but the Narativ methodology connected those sweaty employees to one another in a powerful and sustaining way, and our corporate consulting arm was born.

Narativ’s storytelling methodology has proven beneficial to corporations such as Time Warner, Disney, Real Estate and Hotel groups as well as consulting firms worldwide.

Our work with community building + advocacy

Narativ began working with community organizations in 1997 to support a variety of advocacy projects including

• Workshops in partnership with Open Society Institute in Senegal and International Transport Workers Federation in Kenya to foster HIV awareness and to encourage HIV testing;

• Community training with Open Society Institute in Croatia to help adults with intellectual disabilities to advocate for themselves;

• Work and UNICEF Communication Division to generate and share children’s stories across global media.

Our work with students + educational organizations

In 2009 Narativ developed a series of College Essay Writing Workshops for high school students. This led to a range of innovative workshops that use personal storytelling to support New York City high school and college students’ success in school, work and life. We also run private College Essay Writing Workshops and Seminars in New York and New Jersey, and train advanced college students as assistant teachers in our high school programs.
